The motivation is an API change: FloatMath is going to be
deprecated and/or removed. Performance is not the goal of
this change.
That said...
Math is faster than FloatMath with AOT compilation.
While making the change, occurances of:
{Float}Math.sqrt(x * x + y * y) and
{Float}Math.sqrt({Float}Math.pow(x, 2) + {Float}Math.pow(y, 2))
have been replaced with:
{(float)} Math.hypot(x, y)
Right now there is no runtime intrinsic for hypot so is not faster
in all cases for AOT compilation:
Math.sqrt(x * x + y * y) is faster than Math.hypot(x, y) with
AOT, but all other combinations of FloatMath, use of pow() etc.
are slower than hypot().
hypot() has the advantage of being self documenting and
could be optimized in future. None of the behavior differences
around NaN and rounding appear to be important for the cases
looked at: they all assume results and arguments are in range
and usually the results are cast to float.
Different implementations measured on hammerhead / L:
AOT compiled:
[FloatMath.hypot(x, y)]
benchmark=Hypot_FloatMathHypot} 633.85 ns; σ=0.32 ns @ 3 trials
[FloatMath.sqrt(x*x + y*y)]

[FloatMath.sqrt(FloatMath.pow(x, 2) + FloatMath.pow(y, 2))]

[(float) Math.hypot(x, y)]
benchmark=Hypot_MathHypot} 96.80 ns; σ=0.05 ns @ 3 trials
[(float) Math.sqrt(x*x + y*y)]
benchmark=Hypot_MathSqrtMult} 23.97 ns; σ=0.01 ns @ 3 trials
[(float) Math.sqrt(Math.pow(x, 2) + Math.pow(y, 2))]

Previously, calling setLocalMatrix updated any Paint that had the
Shader attached. This depended on deprecated behavior in Skia. Use
new Skia APIs, and do not modify any Paints that use the Shader.
In addition, update callers to call setShader (again) after modifying
the Shader.
Sample app at ag/499573 for testing.
Depends on I673801444f0a8fd4f192b5b7effdde1aa83e702b in external/skia.

- Removing RecentService, determining animations just in time
- Fixing a few issues with animations of newly picked up tasks from the pool
- Moving helper classes into sub package

The thumbnail returned from ActivityManager.getTaskThumbnail() now
contains either a Bitmap or a ParcelFileDescriptor that points to
a file containing a compressed Bitmap. The Recent tasks list is
now responsible for all thumbnail Bitmap caching as the activity
manager keeps only the most recent 5. This also permits low memory
devices to have many more tasks in the Recent tasks list.
As part of this CL the concept of subtasks is removed eliminating
code supporting the TaskAccessInfo and IThumbnailRetriever classes.
Fixes bug 15828934.

Animations are now only triggered when absolutely needed.
In addition, the notifications are now not clipped anymore when starting
a drag on them and the notification below the dragged one is fadded in if
necessary.

Migrate View.SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_TRANSPARENT_(STATUS/NAVIGATION) to
WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_TRANSLUCENT_(STATUS|NAVIGATION).
Add associated public attrs for both new window flags:
windowTranslucentStatus
windowTranslucentNavigation
Introduce convenient four new themes that set translucent decor:
Theme.Holo.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor
Theme.Holo.Light.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor
Theme.DeviceDefault.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor
Theme.DeviceDefault.Light.NoActionBar.TranslucentDecor
Update PhoneWindowManager mechanism to plumb these values back to
SystemUI to drive bar mode state.
The new translucent flags come from the top fullscreen window, not
the focused window, so translucency does not change when opening
dialogs.
Imply some window-level system-ui visibility if one or both of these
new flags are present, specifically:
FLAG_TRANSLUCENT_STATUS implies LAYOUT_STABLE, LAYOUT_FULLSCREEN
FLAG_TRANSLUCENT_NAVIGATION implies LAYOUT STABLE, LAYOUT_HIDE_NAV
Rename all associated variable & resource names to use the term
translucent instead of transparent. (Retain the term semi-transparent
for the transient bar style).
Recents activity allowed to inherit translucent decor state via the
new PRIVATE_FLAG_INHERIT_TRANSLUCENT_DECOR. Compensating changes
to use the full screen area more appropriately.
Update keyguard to use new WM flags.
Update docs and various api artifacts.
Sanity-check fixes:
- Toasts and alerts given stable layout.
- Suppress nu-gradient when in transient (hidey) mode.
- New translucent flags use top-fullscreen window, dialogs don't clear.

Because recents sits on the same stack as launcher it can sometimes be
above launcher. When we were launching home activity because the flag
told us to we would sometimes launch recents instead. This fix makes
sure that the home activity is on the top when it is supposed to be
launched next.
Previously this was fixed by having recents move itself to the back
of the stack after it launched an activity (b/9750207 and ag/336019).
But that solution caused the AppTransition to be set to
TRANSIT_TASK_TO_BACK which left the SOFT_INPUT_IS_FORWARD_NAVIGATION
flag unset. This in turn caused IMEs to remain unlaunched when
returning from recents (b/10240567).
Fixes bug 10240567.

to the back of the activity stack behind the home task. Otherwise
